GEAR

Here is a description of what Jeff Marcoux uses to get his agressive guitar tone on stage.

Guitars

Jeff Marcoux plays on stage with Jackson guitars only. Those guitars are best-known for their great build quality, shred-friendly style, and aggressive pickups and whammy systems since early 1980. Usually fitted with a two humbucker pickup configuration, some models additionally include single-coil pickups and/or only one bridge humbucker.

Effect

Jeff uses a few effects pedals on stage. Whether it is to improve his guitar tone, to add effects such as delay, reverb or to modulate his sound, he can rely on several quality devices.

Purists may still prefer the 'made like they used to' models with JRC4558 chips transported from the 1980s using a time machine, but the Mini is a workmanlike, good-sounding pedal that delivers what you expect from a classic Tube Screamer and doesn't require you to sacrifice much space on your pedalboard.
The Danelectro Fab Tone Distortion channels the distinct throwback tube amp tone players love in a durable (and affordable) package players can get behind.
Housed in the durable Fab chassis that's become so well known among players since its introduction in the mid '90s, the pedal sports controls for Volume, Fab (gain), and a two-band EQ for dialing in snarling vintage distortion that complements rather than consumes your tone.

Delivers the same legendary tones

Vintage look, but  heavy sound

Now you can command the same killer wah tone as Kirk with the new Kirk Hammett Cry Baby Wah. Developed in close collaboration with the metal guitar icon himself, it has been meticulously tuned and tweaked to deliver the wah sound that revolutionized metal solos. This is the legendary tone that Kirk dials in on tour using his Cry Baby Rack Wah. Dunlop's engineers took Kirk's EQ, volume and tone settings—reflecting decades of blazing Cry Baby riffology—and reproduced them with exacting precision. This pedal is exceptionally even in response as you move from heel to toe, with a thick top end and full dynamic range. Dare to step into the footprint of a giant. Own a piece of the legend: the Kirk Hammett Signature Wah from Dunlop.
